Depends on which side of the fence you are. On the receiver's end, its the latter; whereas on the other end the former can make life quite miserable.

I would say, the former - not knowing where you went wrong is far worse than not knowing that you went wrong...what you don't know won't hurt you, in case of the latter...not making sense??? too tired...will try again! :)
