Suggestions invited

For a good bollywood movie to show my non desi colleagues. Something light, not too long, not too dramatic. But its got to be mainstream bollywood, not artsy fartsy. Help me out here. :)

Pushpak. No translation/subtitles required. Let the laughter flow.

Anand...might be too dramatic though.
All non-Desi Indian film lovers seem to love DDLJ by default so that's a good pick too. DCH is also well appreciated around the non-Desi Bollywood blogs that I've seen.

Depends, do you want to show modern India or traditional India?

My admin loved the dancing and costumes in Devdas (barf!)

Does Monsoon Wedding count as a Bollywood movie? That would be good.

Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron/Golmaal are funny and nicely acted. But if you are going for typical Bollywood flick, I'd pick DDLJ.

P.S: Some of my phoren friends love Asoka for some reason.

P.P.S: Munnabhai MBBS!!!

Monsoon Wedding is a good suggestion though not quite Bollywood.

A bunch of multinational friends (Chinese, Japanese, American and Russians) enjoyed 'Hum Tum' very much (till about the overly melodramatic end).

My American officemate and her family loves all SRK-Kajol movies. The kids even know some of the songs and dance with them :) They are long though.

I think you should show them Race. They will start wondering if it was a Hollywood or a Bollywood movie... The twists & turns in the story are awesome, but you might need to do a lil bit of translation.. But otherwise the body language is good enough!

DCH is my next bet! :)

Spare them the crap, and reach heaven!!

Munnabhai part II - everyone knows Gandhiji, so the context is clear... ofcourse the movie is long.... I think pushpak would be a great choice.

DCH? Taare Zameen Par? How about Sangharsh, the one with Preity Zinta and Akshay Kumar? Or even 1947 - Earth? Or Sarfarosh? Or Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi?
Or wait, Jab We Met!!! :D :D :D
:P

Hmmm...I love DDLJ so I'd go for that for sure but K3G is a good light movie too - or Muhjse Shaadi Karoge is funny....or if u wanna go there.....Om Shanti Om :P

I would suggest Kal ho na Ho!
Feel good, witty, awesome, melodramatic, self-sacrifice, bollywood, and SRK (doesn't get better!)

This has nothing to do with Bollywood, but I was forced to delete my blog because, to my horror, I've recently learnt that my mother has been reading it since as early as December. I'll make a virtually identical one and let you know so, hopefully, you can relink me. ;)

SRK mainstream movies are always a hit with my non-desi friends. Or you could try Salaam-Namaste!

A tad late but nevertheless..in case you haven't had the showing as yet..

1. Pyaar ke side-effects
2. Chupke Chupke or Golmaal (the Hrishikesh Mukherjee ones)
3. Tridev
4. Hyderabad Blues
5. Chandni
6. Lamhe
7. Kati Patang
8. Yaadon ki Baraat
9. Guddi
10. Khoobsurat (Rekha & Rakesh Roshan not Urmila & Sanjay Dutt)
