Naamkaran (Important correction to previous post)

Suggestions invited for christening my spanking new i-Mac at work. Silver-grey in colour, 20 inch wide-screen display and of course, flawless performance. Gender undetermined, will go with the cooler name. :p

FYI, My past laptop was Hobbes, current laptop is Kalia, car was Basanti and bicycle (thanks to an audience poll like this) is Chameli.

Thanks in advance hain.

Important correction to previous comment:
"How about Gobar?"

On a lighter note, I suggest Resul Pookutty.

fun fact: your children's initials put together make 'hkbc' which sounds like a b grade engineering college in bengluru.

disco's suggestion for your imac is aquiqui. it's fun to say and it means rum in portuguese.

Kalia and Gabbar go together..
But I like saying Pookutty too :D
Sounds dirty :P

Given that its a work computer and i presume u have ambitions of a nobel prize someday... you should call it Rosalind or to make it more personal "roja" ( satisifes bollywood constraint too ). :D

Oh oh! How about Barbie?? (After Ms. Barbara McClintock - my hero :P)

Errrm.. is there a prize for this thing? I am putting in way too many suggestions for free.

Sakshi,
I know how to "< s>strikethrough< /s>". But the html gets screwed up when I post via email. (from lab).

So, you don't know how to post via email, do you? :p

Gabbar is cool. I like. top contender.

Sep,
Gobar hoga tera computer. Resul Pookutty would be awesome, but I'm afraid not of lasting value.

Sukesh Kumar,
Chokher Bali? na..

Pri,
Tell disco I loved her suggestion! Aquiqui is cool!

Sakshi,
yes I agree, Kalia and Gabbar go together..nice. Barbie? yuck.

Aequo animo,
Roja..nah. Rosalind sounds cool and might suit the computer too..Lets see.

Sayesha,
Chandni..noooo. :p

Ludwig,
ROFL @ Pentamma! May be if it were a windows computer running on a pentium chip.

Professor TR,
Inspector Vijay is also a great suggestion...

Thanks all! I will keep u posted..

Barbie is a personal joke - we had a headless and naked barbie as a goddess of PCR machine - you had to sacrifice pipette tips to get good results (we were really juvenile grad kids but we really did it coz it upset the boss so much :P)

If you want to continue with the Sholay theme, how about 'Sambha'?

Trivia: You want a name for your iMac and Mac Mohan was the actor who played the role of Sambha.

How about Hedwig?

Hi,

I was reading ur blog posts and found some of them to be very good.. u write well.. Why don't you popularize it more.. ur posts on ur blog ‘deep_thought’ took my particular attention as some of them are interesting topics of mine too;

BTW I help out some ex-IIMA guys who with another batch mate run www.rambhai.com where you can post links to your most loved blog-posts. Rambhai was the chaiwala at IIMA and it is a site where users can themselves share links to blog posts etc and other can find and vote on them. The best make it to the homepage!

This way you can reach out to rambhai readers some of whom could become your ardent fans.. who knows.. :)

Cheers,
Ray
